Former US President George HW Bush Dies At Age 94

The longest living president in US history, one of his biggest achievements was steering America through the end of the Cold War.

Former US President George H.W. Bush has died at age 94 in Houston, according to his spokesperson.Bush’s death comes after his wife of 73 years, Barbara Bush, passed away on April 17 at age 92.

Bush had a form of Parkinson’s disease that forced him to use a wheelchair or motorized scooter in recent years, and he had been in and out of hospitals during that time as his health declined.

The 1991 Gulf War stoked his popularity.Bush was a son of a senator, celebrated World War II combat pilot, student athlete,Texas oilman, Republican congressman, national party chairman, pioneering diplomat and spy chief.

George HW Bush was born on June 12, 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts into a wealthy New England political dynasty — the son of Prescott Bush, a successful banker and US senator for Connecticut.George H.W. Bush became the first former U.S. president to turn 94 on June 12.

George HW Bush is survived by five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as two siblings.

He was quickly remembered as a humble patriot, dedicated public servant and beloved family man by President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama and others.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time, according to the statement released by Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath.

His public approval rating soared to 89 percent after he presided over a U.S.-led coalition of 32 countries that drove Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi army from Kuwait in 1991.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Bush enlisted in the military on his 18th birthday and became the Navy’s youngest pilot at the time. He flew 58 combat missions in World War II before being shot down by the Japanese in 1944.
