PM Modi Addresses Rally In Bastar District’s Headquarters, Jagdalpur

RAIPUR:PM Modi Friday raised the issue of ‘Urban Naxals’ in poll-bound Chhattisgarh during the election campaign in Jagdalpur.

Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Chhattisgarh next week in two phases on November 12 and November 20.

The first phase is to be held in the Maoist-affected constituencies of Bastar region that falls in the southern part of the central Indian state.

Of the 90 Assembly segments in Chhattisgarh, 51 are general, while 10 are reserved for candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC) communities and 29 from Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.

PM Modi said that BJP only works for the people and he wanted to wipe out poverty from Bastar. He blamed the Congress for working for the interest of the family, saying, Congress has been trying to develop only one family.

For 10 years, Congress was at the Centre, but they never paid attention to the needs of Chhattisgarh and blocked all development for the state.Congress always considers the poor, dalits, tribals and the marginalised as their vote-bank.

In his first election rally in the Naxal-affected state, Modi said, ” Other political parties since Independence have tried to divide the society and we believe in ‘Sab ka Sath, Sab ka Vikas’.

Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh state polls are crucial for both the BJP and Congress ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.

Rekhchand Jain from the Congress will contest from Jagdalpur, whereas sitting MLA Santosh Bafna has been given a BJP ticket.

Rebels in this Naxal-hit constituency in Chhattisgarh have threatened people against voting in the polls. The Bastar Assembly constituency is also an ST seat.
