PM Modi Dares Congress To Make An ‘Outsider’ Party President For 5 Years

The second phase of polling in 72 seats, out of the 90-member Assembly, would be held on November 20 and counting of votes would take place on December 11.

CHHATTISGARH: PM Modi has challenged the Congress party to appoint anyone but a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family as its chief, and have that leader complete a five-year term.

Four generations of Congress ruled the nation and they should give an account of what they have done for the country, Modi said.

PM Modi on Friday addressed a public rally in poll-bound Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur and passed tough remarks on alleged ‘nepotism’ inside Congress party.

The Congress hasn’t come to terms with the fact that a chaiwala has become the country’s prime minister. “They say a chaiwala became PM because of one great person,” Modi said.

PM Modi said it will be good for the country if a person outside from the Nehru family became President of the Congress.

PM Modi also lauded the people of Chhattisgarh for showing up for the first phase of elections, in spite Naxal influence in the state.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had earlier said that India has a tea-seller as its prime minister today because of the country’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

PM Modi also urged the crowds at Ambikapur to register even higher voting percentages than Bastar on November 20, when the second phase of the state election takes place.

Chhattisgarh is voting for its assembly elections in two phases where BJP’s Raman Singh is seeking a fourth term as Chief Minister.
