PM Modi Leads 5th International Yoga Day Celebrations In Ranchi, Jharkhand

NEW DELHI: The United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, it has been observed every year to mark its significance in one’s lifestyle.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah led the main International Yoga Day events in Jharkhand and Haryana. PM Modi, describing the close relationship between yoga and nature, said Ranchi was chosen to host the main event as it has a lot of forests and is close to nature.Maharashtra CM Fadnavis joined Ramdev on the stage in Nanded and performed some of the asanas shown by the Patanjali Ayurved founder.Modi also said the government has been working to make yoga a pillar of preventive healthcare. Expressing concern that young people are becoming vulnerable to heart ailments, Modi said, “Yoga can play a huge role in tackling the issue and hence, this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Heart’.”“Yoga can play a huge role in tackling the issue and hence, this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Heart,’” he said.
