KOLKATA: In the last article, we saw how to tap the unlimited power of faith. Today we will see how to use the power of visualisation for applying backward goal setting.

Visualise using power of subconscious mind and apply backward goal setting

Visualise yourself in future as having achieved the goals. Imagine that it is possible for you to achieve anything. Project yourself in future, say, 5 years from now. Imagine that you are living an ideal life in future. Then look backward and ask yourself that what you have done in 5 years to achieve this ideal situation. That will motivate you to take all necessary steps towards achieving your goals.

As Napolean Hill puts it, “science has established beyond the slightest room for doubt, that through the principle of Auto-suggestion any deeply rooted desire saturates the entire body and mind with the nature of the desire and literally transforms the mind into a powerful magnet that will attract the object of the desire, if it be within reason.”

Your sub-conscious mind has three major outstanding characteristics. One is that it works upon all the inputs given by you, whether positive or negative, whether internal or from any outside source. Second is that it makes all out efforts to tap your infinite intelligence to manifest the desired circumstances or materialise your desired things. Third is that the sub-conscious mind has power to instruct every cell of your body to do the work, as it should do. Now, it is up to you, how you can tap the infinite power of your sub-conscious mind and your infinite intelligence. Whether you simply wish that the desired things come to you or you wish the infinite intelligence of the universe to guide your sub-conscious mind at every step to take suitable actions towards achievement of your goals.

Initially, you will have doubts and negative thoughts as to ‘HOW’ the goal will be achieved. But you have to maintain your focus on ‘WHAT’ is to be achieved and ‘WHY’. If you keep reminding you about ‘what’ & ‘why’ aspects of your goal and keep on taking persistent actions, ‘how’ will take care of itself.

If you want to buy a house, merely desiring will not cause your house to be built out of air. But if you develop an intense burning desire, it will motivate you to take appropriate actions to arrange sufficient money for your dream house. Though wishing is first step to activate the universal powers to support your goal, you also have to play your part by way of disciplined actions in the direction of fulfilling your goals.

The subconscious mind is like a magnet. When it is infused with goals, it has a tendency to attract all, which is essential for achievement of that goal. Your acts are always in harmony with the dominating thoughts of your mind. If you are determined to realize your goals and saturate your sub-conscious mind with it, it will automatically influence your actions towards achieving the goals.

When you create a backward plan and have a glance upon the same, it looks almost similar to a traditional forward plan. However, creating backward planning is beneficial in two manners. First, you see yourself as if you have already achieved your goal and thus tap the power of your sub-conscious mind. Second, it becomes easier for you to take the desired steps. This also helps you in avoiding wastage of time in unproductive activities not taking you towards your goals.

As Sergei Bubka, the greatest pole-vaulter, who kept the world record for 30 years, puts it, “the strategy of my coach and me was that we looked at pictures of all the best pole vaulters from around the world, and we took the best parts from them, and we created a person that had never existed. We then started to work toward being such a person.”

(In the next article, we will see how you can tap the power of positive affirmations. I believe that you are enjoying the journey towards the future of your dreams with me. If yes, please stay tuned every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. Happy G.O.P.T.A.)
