4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Tajikistan, Tremors Felt In Delhi And Neighbourhood

NEW DELHI: Tremors were felt in several parts of Delhi-NCR region on Wednesday morning after a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck Kofarnihon in Tajikistan.

The earthquake was considered to be of moderate intensity and no Tsunami warning was issued.No casualties or damage to property has been reported so far.

According to reports, tremors were felt in several parts of the Delhi and neighbouring cities.Tremors were also felt in several parts of Haryana and Punjab.

Media reports said the depth of the earthquake was 5 km, but the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km.The tremors were felt around 8 am.

Several residents in Delhi and adjoining cities took to Twitter after they felt tremors, some saying they woke up to it.Experts say tremors from earthquakes whose epicentre lies deep inside the earth usually are felt far away.
