39 Indians Killed By ISIS In Iraq’s Mosul

NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has confirmed that the 39 Indians who went missing in Mosul in Iraq in 2014 were killed by the ISIS.The minister said this in her statement in the Rajya Sabha.

As many as 40 Indians were abducted by terrorist organisation ISIS in June 2014 from Mosul in Iraq but one of them escaped by posing as a Muslim from Bangladesh, Swaraj told the Rajya Sabha.

Swaraj also said that the stranded Indians were kidnapped and most of them were from Punjab. The Union minister said that the bodies of the deceased were exhumed and DNA samples sent for forensic test.

Swaraj told Parliament that MoS EAM, General VK Singh, will go to Iraq to bring back mortal remains. “General VK Singh will go to Iraq to bring back mortal remains of Indians killed in Iraq.

The Opposition on Wednesday continued its attack on the Modi government over the confirmation of the death of 39 missing Indians in Iraq’s Mosul.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy suggested that India should join hands with the US and Israel to fight ISIS, responsible for the death of 39 Indians.

 Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said that it might take up to 10 days to bring back the mortal remains of all the 39 Indians killed in Iraq because there were legal processes involved.

The victim 27 from Punjab, 4 from Himachal Pradesh, 6 from Bihar, and 2 from West Bengal — were construction workers employed by an Iraqi company in Mosul.
