(In the past 2 articles, we knew about some strategies and mindset for preparation of examinations. Today, we will know some more points about this.)
Use Facebook and YouTube pages related to your career
NOIDA: Social media is not just for chatting or sharing photos and thoughts. You can tap the power of social media by liking the pages related to your career on Facebook and YouTube etc.
Do something different than others
Well known motivational speaker Shiv Khera puts it as, “Winners do not do different things, they do the things differently.”
Understand, if you are doing what most of other students do, you will achieve the result, which most of the other students will be getting. If you want to get better results than others, you have to do different things. You have to adopt different strategy for achieving success. You have to tap power of GOPTA (Refer to Part 8 of this series for GOPTA), while preparing for your entrance examinations.
Don’t worry excessively
When examinations date approaches, most of the students start panicking. Panicking is not going to help you. Instead, if you use this time in study and revision, it will benefit you in the examinations. Even if you are not better prepared, you can’t help it just before examination. Face the examination with best of your preparation. Whatever you have studied, revise, and try to focus on performance with cool mind. Remember, if your preparation is just enough to secure 125 marks out of 200, panicking may drag it to 120 or even less.
Practice writing the tests for checking speed
Always practice solving the question papers at home. This will help you in correcting mistakes. If you are appearing in any entrance examination, practising also means testing speed, as most of the examinations test you to answer questions in a very short time. When I appeared for the entrance examination in 1989, I had to answer 200 questions in 120 minutes, thus giving us an average of 36 seconds to answer a question. Our study circle practised a lot on speed, so that our average time used to be about 25 seconds or so. This benefitted me in real examination, because I got spare time to revise, while others were struggling to somehow attempt all the 200 questions.
Prepare while in class 12
Prepare for your entrance examination while still in class 12. If you don’t prepare and take another year after your class 12 for preparation, this will waste one productive year. Remember, in any job, if you enter at the age of 25 or 26, there seems no big difference at present; but at the retiring age, that extra year can take you to new heights in your career. In most of the organisations, top level executives are those who have put in more years in service.
Identify the possible obstacles
Identify the possible obstacles, whether it may be possible health issues, shortage in attendance, or anything else. Keep your eyes on your goals to avoid distractions. If you are studying in any institute and miss your family, you should focus on your studies and understand that if you don’t focus on your studies and examinations, you will defeat the purpose of sending you to this institute by your parents.
(In the next article, I will touch some points to be taken care of during examinations. I believe that you are enjoying the journey towards the future of your dreams with me. If yes, please stay tuned. Happy G.O.P.T.A.)
