Thousands Join May Day 2018 Marches Around The World

May Day originated in the United States in 1886 when more than 300,000 workers across the country walked out on their bosses on the first day of May.

In India, May Day was first celebrated in Chennai on 1 May, 1923 following an initiative by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan.

Riot police broke up a rally of about 2,000 clothes factory workers gathered at a park in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh.
