8 Dead After 11 Coaches Of Seemanchal Express Derail In Vaishali, Bihar

PATNA: 8 people have died and more than 20 are injured in Bihar after nine coaches of the Seemanchal Express derailed on Sunday.

The mishap occurred in Vaishali at 3:52 am today.The Railways has said preliminary investigations suggest that the derailment of Seemanchal Express in Bihar was caused due to rail fracture of CMS crossing at Baruni.

The train was running between Jogbani and Anand Vihar Terminal.Railway officials said 11 coaches of the train were derailed.

Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached the spot to carry out relief and rescue operations.A team of doctors has rushed to the accident site from Sonpur and Barauni.

PM Modi expressed “deep anguish” over the loss of life due to the Seemanchal Express accident in Bihar.Railways, NDRF, and local authorities are providing all possible assistance in the wake of the accident,” he said in a tweet.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has expressed grief over the Seemanchal Express train accident.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday expressed his condolences at the death of those killed in the train accident in Bihar’s Vaishali.

The Railways have announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of every deceased; Rs 1 lakh for those with grievous injuries; and Rs 50,000 to those with simple injuries.
