PARAMEDICAL COURSES

PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

Pharmacists are sought to work in the area of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) dispensaries. They can find jobs in retail pharmacies, marketing, research and quality control of medical products.

With the ever-increasing number of hospitals, nursing homes and pharmaceutical companies, there is demand for experts who can prepare, mix, compound, dispense drugs and medicines, ointments, powders, pills, tablets and injections on the prescription of a medical practitioner, dentist or veterinarian.

An expert in pharmaceutical sciences can offer his services in the areas of research & development (of new drugs, its formulation and clinical trials), quality control, production (of biotechnological products, surgical dressings, medical devices, equipment, ayurvedic/ homeopathic / unani medicines, veterinary medicine, cosmetics, soaps, toiletries and dental products etc), marketing of drugs, controlling and regulating medicines etc.

  • B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) 

 

The courses in pharmaceutical sciences are regulated by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). By pursuing 4 year’ B.Pharm course, one can become aware of the medications and its role in treatment. A Pharmacist has the role in optimizing and monitoring the medicine treatment. He also has to interpret the reports that come out of medical laboratories along with establishing coordination with doctors. This program can be taken up after 10+2 or D.Pharm. (Diploma in Pharmacy).

 

  • D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy)

 

It is a 2 years’ diploma course in pharmacy. Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology. A special stream is also available for Ayurvedic and Siddha Medicine

    1. M.Pharm
    2. Doctor in Pharmacy (Pharm. D)

 

  • Ph.D.

 

It is worth to note that the Ph.D. prepares for careers in research fields and teaching at the higher education level whereas Pharm.D. develops students for a professional career in pharmacy.
