PM Imran Khan Welcomes Modi’s Greetings On Pakistan National Day

NEW DELHI: Imran Khan has welcomed the greeting message he received on Friday from Indian PM Modi. In a tweet message PM Imran Khan said, I welcome PM Modi’s message to our people and I believe it is time to begin a comprehensive dialogue with India.

PM Modi, in his message, said it was time for the people of the sub-continent to work together for a democratic, peaceful, progressive and prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence, they said.

Relations between the two countries have been strained after Pulwama terror attack. Tensions escalated as IAF carried out airstrikes across the LOC at Balakot in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

According to official sources in New Delhi, PM Modi sent a letter to Khan, greeting people of Pakistan on the eve of its National Day and highlighting the importance of a terror-free South Asia.

Every year on March 23, Pakistan celebrates its National Day commemorating the Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan on March 23, 1956.

India had boycotted a reception at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to mark the event after the invite was extended to several separatist leaders from Jammu and Kashmir as well.

Congress on Saturday targeted PM Modi for “hiding” the fact that he had greeted his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan on that country’s national day.BJP President Amit Shah dismissed the Congress criticism as a “face-saving exercise”.
