SJVN Conferred 2nd Prize in Swachhta Pakhwada –2019

NEW DELHI: Secretary (Power), Government of India, Ajay Kumar Bhalla  presented Second Prize of Swacch Survekshan Award-2019 to Smt. Geeta Kapur, Director(Personnel) SJVN at a ceremony held here today.

All PSUs under the Ministry of Power had been evaluated on the basis of activities carried out during the Swachhta Pakhawara. Based on this evaluation, SJVN has been conferred the Swacch Survekshan Award 2019 for its innovative activities carried out during Swachhta Pakhawara-2019. The activities were undertaken at all its offices and locations in Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat and New Delhi.

SJVN has provisioned for maintenance of 2421 school toilets constructed by the company under Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, thereby encouraging the school authorities to keep the toilets in operational mode. Based on the requirement of the community, SJVN constructed a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of 1 MLD capacity at Jhakri benefiting more than 600 households. In the next stage of this project three more villages of the area will be connected to this Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and will be beneficial to more than 1000 households. SJVN’s initiative under Swachch Bharat Abhiyanhas also been to provide Public Toilets in and around project area and on National Highway.

SJVN adopted two villages namely Jhakri in district Shimla and Bayal in district Kullu under Adarsh Gram Yojna for creating infrastructure and other modern facilities and is committed to complete this drive by 2021. Additionally funds have been provided for renovation and creating additional facilities in iconic monuments. SJVN has collaborated with local authorities to reclaim waste disposal sites and develop them into public parks.

Under SJVN’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jal Sangrakshan Yojna over 70 natural water sources have been conserved and developed to provide clean water. In order to promote Swachhta in the society, SJVN has provided 24,000 dustbins at public places.

Apart from these activities SJVN also took up the various programs to generate awareness for keeping our rivers clean, involvement of public and employees in Shramdan for cleaning river banks, natural water sources besides promoting hygiene amongst girl students by organizing motivational speeches and distribution  of sanitary napkins in the schools.

SJVN undertakes its CSR and Sustainability projects in 6 verticals namely, Health & hygiene, Education & Skill Development, Sustainable Development, Infrastructural & community development, Assistance during natural disaster, Promotion of Culture & Sports.
