SJVN HAS PAID RS.1485 CRORE DIVIDEND ON RS.1055 CRORE EQUITY TO HIMACHAL PRADESH-OVER 140%RETURN ON INVESTMENT

SHIMLA: Against an equity participation of Rs.1055.01 crore in public sector SJVN Limited,  the government of Himachal Pradesh holding 26.85 percent equity, has already been paid a dividend of Rs.1485.06 crore during the past 14 years, told Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director to Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh while handing over the final dividend cheque of Rs.21.10 crore for the financial year 2017-18. The company had already paid an interim dividend of Rs.200.45 crore to the state government in March 2018.

The dividend is in addition to 12 percent free power being given to the state as royalty, and 25 percent power at bus bar rates against equity participation since commissioning of its first project in the year 2004..

On account of its annual financial performance during the financial year 2017-18, SJVN Limited has paid a total dividend of Rs.864.56 crores to its shareholders viz the Government of India, government of Himachal Pradesh  and the public.

On this occasion A.S. Bindra, Director (Finance), R.K. Bansal, Director (Electrical), Kanwar Singh, Director (Civil) and Smt. Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel) were also present.

During the meeting Nand Lal Sharma also thanked the Chief Minister for allocating 780 MW Jhangi Thopan Hydro Electric Project,  upstream of its 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station on river Satluj in district Kinnaur. He apprised the Chief Minister that SJVN had all the requisite resources and expertise to execute hydro projects in typical Himalayan Geology and ensured that SJVN will make all efforts to complete this project as early as possible.

SJVN will now have two hydro power plants of 1912 MW capacity in operation and four projects of about 1400 MW under implementation  on river Satluj in Himachal Pradesh.
